Jacques Barrot, Brussels commissioner for freedom, security and justice, urged all 27 EU countries to vastly expand their asylum systems for victims of war and poverty.
It is ironic that the pursuer of this plan is commissioner for freedom, security and justice
We could use his services in this country,
FREEDOM : Freedom from other countries telling us how to run our own affairs.
SECURITY : Security of our borders, to stop every Tom, Dick & Abdul from entering our country illegally.
JUSTICE : Justice for all the innocent victims of crime.
,Yet another disadvantage of being in Europe.

70 years ago is not now.
70 years ago you could not hop on a plane in Africa and arrive in the UK a few hours later
70 years ago we did not have criminal gangs working to smuggle as many people as they could into the UK
70 years ago we did not have a population of over 60 million.
70 years ago we did not have layers of benefits that could be claimed by people
70 years ago most of the people who came here were genuine asylum seekers, not economic migrants who will lie through their teeth just to get in this country.
Trouble is are we expected to take anybody, from any country, were there is a war.
We cannot be expected to do that, nor should we do it.
We cannot be responsible for the world's problems.

Tom and Dick don't sound very muslim. Are they stealing our names now?
They would if it was beneficial to them, but it is not as they do very nicely, thank you very much, with Abdul or Mohamed etc,

Yes if they came in illegally in the backs of lorries.
Yes if they were intent on blowing us up.
Yes if they brought to this country an alien culture, along with their criminals and crimes.
Yes if they were not prepared to integrate into the British way of life.
Yes if they insisted that they are given preferential treatment to the indigenous peoples.

And Barot is not suggesting any of these
You are placing your paranoia in his words.
Asylum seekers and refugees are people running away from wars where they may be killed - often wars we started.
And what is this "British way of life" - yours?
I'll bet it's not mine!
A lot of people spend a lot of time on here bemoaniing the way of life that Britains have - boozing, rowdy behavior violence young girls getting pregnant.
Your British way of life is a total fantasy.
You just want people to behave the way you think they should.

What these short sighted bureaucrats don't realise when they are spouting out these suggestions is that once these immigrants are allowed to set foot in Europe there is nothing to stop them travelling on to Britain as many of them do.
Even when in Britain we have tried to relocate them in less denser parts of the country but they then up sticks and move to the more denser areas where they create havoc on the facilities in the community.
Rather than bringing them to Europe give them a few spades (literally) and let them make a go of their own country.
