Samsung 933HD TV
2 Answers
My TV has died on me and its back with the shop at the moment. They've given me a loan TV in the meantime - a tiny 18.5% Samsung 933HD. Shouldn't complain becuase at least its working!! I was told in the shop that it would set itself up (auto tune?). When I connected all the bits and pieces together, Sky came on straight away - it didn't seem to search for channels or anything like that. I don't really mind because our "normal" TV reception is unwatchable - we only ever watch Sky.
Two strange things though - when watching BBC News or GMTV in the morning, when my "local" news comes on, its actually from London or the Midlands. I live in the North East! And also, I use my Sky remote to switch channels as usual but have to use the TV remote to control volume.
Do you think this means it hasn't gone through the channel set up properly yet? I'm a bit stuck because as per the norm these days, there wasn't a "proper" instruction manual, just some very basic sheets!
Can anyone help please?

It is possible to manually add any other regions TV channels if you really want to, they will be on a different channel number though as (for example) 103 will also be the default regions ITV.

The sky remote needs to be programed to operate different TV's it's easy to do but as it's only a loan TV I'd put up with having to use the TV remote for a short time, rather than changing the setting on the sky remote and then having to change it back when you get your original TV back.

When I bought my last TV (its only 1.5 years old but still went wrong!), I connected it to Sky with the usual SCART lead and away it went - all local news was correct and I could use my Sky remote for everything. Not sure why this TV is different! I just wondered if the auto tune function hadn't done what it was meant to do properly. Have now looked at the user manual online and it still doesn't tell you much!! Channel 5 has also disappeared - although it was there the morning of when my normal TV died.
