Twice now my car alarm has gone off when I turn the key in the ignition, I must be popular with my neighbours, it did it at 6.20 this morning! I was trying to fathom out what it is that I sometimes do to make it do this when we start the car hundreds of times perfectly OK. Remembering how a couple of times I've accidently pressed the "open boot" button on the fob as i start the engine, which means I have to get out and shut the damn thing, I think maybe I also accidently have pressed one of the other buttons that we press when we lock/unlock the car. If I did that just as I turn the key, would that cause the alarm to go off? I went into headless chicken mode this morning trying to shut it up and it only stopped when I opened the car door. Shall be nervous of starting the car when I get off the train tonight :-(
horselady ,
i had a new bmw a few years ago and the alarm kept going off for no reason.
it had togo back to the dealer under warranty and found a faulty alarm bonnet sensor to be the culprit.
It was ok when I started it last night. Hubby, who keeps smugly saying "it;s never done it when I start it" is sure that I press the alarm button on the fob just as I turn the key, he pointed out that it does actually double as a personal attack alarm so if I was in trouble (in the car-obviously) I just depress the button. I shall be extra careful and see if it happens again. Its a Vauxhall Omega 2.2 by the way 52reg.
