How do I copy I Tunes onto a new computer..

I’m certain my lap is on its way out, and prior to purchasing a new one I want to save all my Itunes onto an external drive (or memory stick or whatever). Can I move the whole programme and reinstall when I have a new computer or can I just save the individual tracks and whatever the answer, what do I do? I have no idea and would appreciate an “idiots guide”. Thanks in advance

Thanks for taking the trouble to answer Chuck 'IT God & Lord of the Cyber Wave' Fickens. I don't know why but I must be jinxing every computer I touch because I can't see an answer from you anywhere and one hasn't been sent to my inbox.
