we are currently sharing a wifi password with friends. we are not at home, they are neighbours by my inlaws who gave us their secure password code. can they see what we are looking at when we log on and vice versa?
No - neither of you will be able to see what the other is looking at. The router gives out a signal which each of you is picking up. There is no connection between that and what you are watching on your PC.
not doing anything wrong, we are not worried what websites are seen that we visit as long as they cant see the info exactly, personal stuff really and bank details. i assume they cant see this then?
It is perfectly possible for the person who owns the wifi to monitor what sites and pages you are visiting, but most standard routers do not offer the sort of logging needed for that, and if they do it's not normally the default setting.
unless you think the owner of the wifi is a hacker then don't worry too much
aren't you worried that by doing this the other party could be looking at stuff that would interest the law, and you may find yourself having to explain your interest in any nefarious activities? I know you'd be innocent, but the police could seize your pc, raid your house etc... (extreme example but one to think of)
