Is there any way you can mount a 50inch Tv bracket and TV on a middle room wall. Which means the wall is only plasterboard/honeycomb/plasterboard 6cms thick..?

I've read lots of stories about people using multiple pasterboard fixings to secure it straight to the plaster board with success, it's just that I personally would not trust plaster board to support the weight of a 50inch TV on it's own (especially if it's a plasma, mine weighs well over 50kg, hence why mine is not wall mounted)
I'd want to at least securely fix it to the batons behind the wall, I'd rather be 150% sure it's going to stay attached to the wall than hear a crash in the middle of the night.

hi lilacben plasterboard is a reasonably strong material to support from, depending on the metal/wood/dot&dab that is holding it up and this is where you could do with finding some supports under it, possibly by drilling some very small test holes to locate them or rely on what jack knoff has suggested.
but the likelihood of finding two supports at the correct spacing is remote.
also i would,nt hesitate to cut out a section of plasterboard and install the supports in the correct spacing and then reboard, given the value of what you,re supporting as against £5 of plasterboard and a £7 bag of multifinish, but then some people might not like to go to that extent.
when tiling skimmed plasterboard is reckoned to support 20 kg per metre square inc. adhesive and grout, if the plasterboard is correctly fixed to its subtrate or support.however thats a distributed load of fairly small, thin tiles and your TV is on a pair of brackets on more of two point loads, i assume.for peace of mind i would want to make certain its securely supported
sorry for such a long reply, hope it helps

Wow!! many thanks for so many replies, very helpful and my husband is gratefull. He is now thinking of the lines of putting bolts through the wall and attach a plywood plate onto the other side. We have a built in wardrobe that backs onto that wall so we will not be able to see anything on our bedroom wall. (as you can gather we live in a bungalow). that way, he says he can hide the wires ect through the wall on the other side. Would this work do you think.?
