...I just need to know, I've read a LOT of posts that seem rabidly royalist / nationalist with just a hint of dogma and intolerance thrown on for good measure. I hope I'm wrong.

Well if they all went home, problem solved.

That WAS a joke BTW!!

I am merely trying to say, as has been said already, that this is a forum and we are all entitled to express views. Some of us are savvy enough to form our own opinions through real life and (in my case) extremists either way get ignored....
But how many people are posting reactionary views on immigrants, terrorists etc based on their own real life? How many posters on here have lost their job to an immigrant or been on the receiving end of a terrorist threat? I would guess that most people base their opinions on what the Daily Express (for example) says, or the fact they are slightly inconvenienced at the airport on their way off to sit in some foreign land and complain they don't like the food, the waiters don't speak English and you can't get the Daily Express!
I agree with those who suggest that every day this place seems more like a haven for the sort of idiotic views you find reported on www.ifyoulikeitsomuchwhydontyougolivethere.co

And for the record, it's always the ones who spout xenophobic hate filled prejudices who whinge about freedom of speech, when history has shown that the first thing such groups do on attaining power is to curtail it (nazi book burning, Thatcher's mate Pinochet's fascists torturing and slaughtering the poet Victor Jara,.. )
Anyone who thinks that fascists should be allowed free use of democratic freedoms only to destroy them has not learned from history.
I have seen nice areas where I grew up and felt comfortable playing in the street with my friends turbed into areas english is a 3rd language and you are intimidated when you walk down the street, churches have been turned into mosques and the area is unrecognisable. These people openly support alkieda and I dont mean that the newspaper says they do, they shout it to each other as they drive down the street. Also there have been several arrests in this area and explosives found as well as terrorist material so please dont judge me!
"alkieda" ? ROFL, sounds like something Duracell might make. Clearly someone has not learned the old adage Know your enemy!
lol @ romko
WOW QUICK I MADE A SPELLING MISTAKE!!!!! DISASTER!!!!! TYPICAL OF THE PEOPLE ON THIS SITE TO PAY MORE ATTENTION TO A SPELLING MISTAKE THAN THE POINT THAT I WAS TRYING TO MAKE!
I was brought up in an area which was lovely but is also now unrecognisable. It is very intimidating being there and there have been many arrests and murders. I cannot understand a word the locals say, but they are all white, British born and bred trash. They also sap a lot more of the taxpayers money than most immigrants - I don't know a single asian who is on the dole. Times and places change, we can't all go pining for the past and the 'green fields of England' romanticised view of the country. There are foreigners in your country, get used to it.

Tell you what I think Telephone, I don't think you have the intellectual capcity or (at least) humility to be able to philosophise about this subject matter sensibly and outside of your own preconceptions. I believe you just used someone picking up on a spelling mistake as an excuse to vent spleen for this very reason.
