DVD PLAYERS - A query

I recently bought a DVD player for my daughter to use in her room and I discovered last night that it doesn't play back DVD's that we have recorded unless they have been recorded in STANDARD mode. Anything that we recorded in any other form ( long play, for instance, to get a couple of films or several episodes of a series on the one disc ) are rejected by the DVD player as being a BAD DISC. My question is this - is there any way we can alter the DVD players' functions to enable us to get around this problem or are we lumbered with it? Thanks in advance for any help that may be proffered.

if i record anything in other than standard mode they will only play in my lg dvd recorder not any of my dvd players
but hey dvd disc are only pence these days

It doesn't matter what mode you taped the movie on to DVD disc, but the taped movie has be to finalised before it can be played in any other DVD players.

This might be the cause you are not able to play in your daughter's new DVD player?

Try dvd - or +. My friend has a dvd player that can only place one type. As it's been mentioned, finalise the disc. Also try re-writeables to save on using discs.

Happened to mine, so bought a divx dvd player for £30 - end of problem!

Thanks for all the replies - I will finalize the discs - I hadn't thought of that. DUH!!!!!!!
