Caught out a bit this morning by weather. No de-icer or scraper so used the brandy I found in the boot. Worked OK. Not sure how it got there. I used to use a credit card to scrape ice but quality is sadly lacking.

Seriously? Brandy on a windscreen?? I'm almost crying thinking about the wastefulness of that!
I;d have been late and warmed car up for half hour rather than use the brandy
Try chocolate cake (I can see B00 having a fit right now) ;-p
!!!
Pour a load of slightly warm water over the screen - not hot or you could crack the screen.

This also has the benefit of freezing on the floor, and leaving an ice patch for your other half to slip on. You feel warmer just laughing as you drive away.
what's wrong with just water?
Now see?

PB's solution I like.

PB I like your style but it could mean you'd have to cook your own tea !
Cold water works too. Don't bother adding any hot water, especially if your hands are cold - you won't be able to detect (by touch) how warm it is. Couple of buckets of water out the cold tap (bonus of having an outside tap) and you're on your way....to work. Actually probably better to drink the brandy before hand and come up with some excuse why you can't get into work.
My tongue would have frozen to the screen.............

Just go to 'pound land', 'pound stretcher' or 'everything's a pound' and buy about 10 scrapers, that way you will always have at least 1 to hand!
so it wasn't mastercard then tut tut ,i would have had the brandy might have helped my cold
Cherry: So just add lemon, honey and hot water to the windscreen and have a hot toddy.
