Did the tsunami sink any ships? We know countless boats were sunk or destroyed, we see the evidence on the news, but I haven't heard a single word about any ships being lost. Seems strange, as the Indian Ocean is vast and there must have been many afloat at the time, some of them very large tankers presumably. How come no word about them? With the force of that tsunami I can hardly imagine anything withstanding it (remember the Poseidon Adventure? Yeah, I know it was only a film, but you get my meaning...).

From my understanding, Tsunami only become particularly large as they reach shallow water ie. the shore. Out at sea they just cause a largish swell that the ships simply ride over the top of.
