hi all, excuse my stupidity but is there anything strange about this or is it just me? The ' mother board' recently packed up on my computer so it was looked at by the guy from PC World and then sent away to the tech guys, since it has been returned when I search for different things they seem to come back as based in Cardiff and I have just looked up a local ( Lincolnshire) site and I got it in Welsh! Do you think I have been given a second hand part that was previously used in Wales? Is this Possible? Or am I being utterly stupid?

You dont tell us what you are using to search (there are loads of search engines).

However Google (google.co.uk) has a Search Settings field in the top right, so see what the settings are in there.

One of the options is to return your search results in various languages (including Welsh) so maybe that is set.

If you are not using Google have a look at the Search Options (or similar) for whatever you are using to search.

I was slighly wrong, it is the tips and messages that can be displayed in Welsh.

However it is still worth checking your Search Settings are set to English, and that no other search option identifies you as being in Wales.

It also COULD be that the machine was repaired in Wales, and they connected it to a Welsh broadband service to test it, so now the browser, or search engine, thinks you are based in Wales.

Certainly there are some web sites that seem to know where I live (based on my local Broadband supplier I suppose) and offer me local services. Some of the adverts offered are also local to me.
