Maintenance contract 2 years longer than the rental agreement

My company signed a contract for 3 years to lease telephone equipment. Some how we also signed a contract for maintenance on the same equipment with the same provider for 5 years. After the 3 years lease was up the equipment was removed. Can the the same company who provided both equipment and maintenance legally charge for maintenance which is now back in their possession?

Frankly I find that site to be far more useful these days on legal matters given that Chatterbank is slowly but surely strangling to death the rest of this site.
