i have printed out some etickets for my sister and now shes saying that the barcode on them has a tiny, hairline gap through them...likely due to the printer ... its barely noticable but she feels they may not scan correctly and she doesnt want to risk being turned away....

i will obviously just reprint to be on the safe side, but im curious as to how 'fragile' a barcode is?
could this tiny printing imperfection render it useless?

im concerned that as it has happened on 2 out of 3 tickets, that it may happenbe again...

and i know from being in the supermarket that if it wont scan they just use the code at the bottom...

thanks

if the gap is going across the barcode then it wont make the sligtest difference. The readers only read a slim section of it, so if all vertical lines are there it will be read ok.
They will be fine, but if your not sure try scanning them at one of those price check points at a supermarket to test the bar code. (it will give you an error, but if you get a unknown code error or similar you know the barcode scanned OK)
