Heating allowance double-bubble
I'm not sure if this is the appropriate section for thisQ. but here goes anyway.I have moved back in with my 86 year old Mum who of course receives £400 per year heating allowance.I have just reached the age of 60 and they have sent me the form inviting me to apply for my heating allowance of £150 per year.Being a law abiding citizen,do I apply, which would potentially give us a joint heating allowance of £550? OR NOT apply as my application (encouraged by the council) may result in them reducing my Mums allowance by the same amount?not to mention the uneccesary paperwork?

She is only entitled to £400 if she lives alone. You are entitled to £125 because you live with someone else wh ois entitled to the allowance. You need to claim or you will lose out.
