Friend of mine has the above TV, bought from Curry's 4 or 5 years ago. She only has a dish ariel attached, and therefore only uses Sky. When on BBC1, 2, ITV1 and channel 5, picture is 16-9 size. For some reason, as soon as she turns on channel 4, picture goes to 4-3, even though the setup on sky (services, setup etc) is still set to 16-9. It is not only channel 4 where the picture size changes to 4-3, before anyone says 'don't watch channel 4' etc., but happens on film, shopping, discovery etc. types. All the time, though, the settings on the sky setup remain at 16-9. Any ideas?

Somewhere on the remote should be a button for changing the aspect ratio. I don't know what Sony mark it up with. On my old Panasonic it has the word 'Aspect' above it, and a screen with arrows pointing out in 4 directions.

It will probably scroll through wide, zoom, auto and other possibilities.

If you can find it, experiment with wide and auto for the best display.
if that does not work try download a update for the TV if its supported from
http://support.sony-e...x.aspx?site=odw_en_GB

if that does not solve the problem you can manually update the sky box software
1. unplug the mains lead from the back
2. press the backup button on the sky box itself and keep pressing it
3. plug the mains lead back in to the sky box still pressing backup
4. wait for updating to appear or the 4 lights on the box to come on
5. when the lights or message appear you can let go of the backup button and wait for the software to update can take a good 20min's.
