Can I take a UK Sat Nav to the States?

Hi everyone ... I just wondered if anyone had used a UK sat nav in America. We have a TomTom sat nav. I've been told we can download the US software and run the sat nav in America on our fly drive. I know you can hire them over there, but they're expensive and you have to put a v large deposit when you hire them out. Thank you.

As long as you've downloaded the appropriate map(s), or bought them on an SD card, there should be no reason why you can't use a UK TomTom satnav in the USA:

We used ours there last year with no problems and off course with the right maps on an SD card.
