Problem with Vaillant Boiler

I have a Vaillant Turbomax Plus 824E Boiler. When I request the Fault Code memory (by pressing the '+' and '-' bottons simultaneously) the boiler starts the central heating and displays 'SFh' on the display. By pressing + and - again the boiler switches off the central heating! I cannot get any fault codes to display as a consequence. The boiler also starts up (randomly) outside of the central heating progammed times.

Can anybody shed any light on this?
