Recently whilst moving furniture the wire ripped in half and i wasn't able to record or watch any of my previous recorded programs, i thought that everything was recorded directly onto the box but it now looks like everythings recorded a server somewhere instead?
Does anyone know, also how much space are you given to record? 9Ive lost the manual)
Thanks in advance.

How much space?

Yes, you get ...

I<---------- this much ---------->I
The recordings are kept on a hard drive inside the box (160GB, giving enough space for about 80hours)

But... they require the internet connection to be live and connected otherwise they won't let you play the recordings.

Thanks for your witty reply joggerjayne, I should have been more clear and said how much memory.
Thsi enables BT to monitor what you are recording/watching and so they can market you with suitable spam.
Question Author
Thanks for explaining it to me chuckfickens.

Squarebear how do they market you spam? Through the television?
Incidentally, if it's the cable that goes to your bt home hub that ripped in half they are standard Ethernet cables available for a couple of quid from any computer store.
Question Author
Thanks chuckfickens but they fixed it last week. I am not really a techy and do not fiddle with cables for obvious reasons but wish i knew what you just said last week as they said they may possibly charge me over a hundred quid for the pleasure, but i will be contesting this.
I would imagine they sell your details on to third parties.
Put it this way, if you watch a load of "Masterchef", Ready , Steady Cook", "Britain's Best Dish" etc, don't be surprised if you get cold callers and catalogues offering you kitchenware and the like.

Of course, this could just be me being cynical :-)
SB - Yes you are being cynical but my guess is cynicaly clairvoiant.

Thanks for the headsup squarebear and ill be monitoring my callers and mail with added scrutiny from now on.
I may be way off the mark but it would make sense to me.

There is no doubt in my mind that in the future this will be one of the many channels they use to sell you something
