FRIDGE FREEZER NOT WORKING PROPERLY

A friend has been told that her fridgefreezer will not work properly unless it is a room with a little warmth.
Surely a fridgefreezer would work better and more efficiently in a cold room?

Nope. I was told that too as the thermostat has to have a "goal" if you see what I mean. A temperature to keep below.

Thank you chrissa 1 - maybe it is true.
The main problem (in this country at least where we don't get the really extreme low temps) is with fridge freezers that only have a single thermostat in the fridge part.

If the temperature in the garage drops to below the normal temperature of the fridge section then the compressor will cut out and may not come back on for hours (or even days!) and in the meantime the freezer section will warm up to the same temperature as the outside, which is not normally cold enough for a freezer.
I think you can get them with separate thermostats for use in cold places - but are pricey.
I knew that's what I meant to say chuck!
Thank you chuck that is what I would have said had you not got here before me.
Ah a cost cutting design flaw then.
Sounds like today's industry.
The customer only gets what they pay for, Geez.
