Our oven is pretty old and it only gas the Gas Mark markings but doesn't show any temperature of the oven. Is there any device you can get that you can put into the oven that shows the temperature of the oven. The thing is I'm pretty sure that when I put the oven to a Gas Mark required by a recipe I don't think our oven goes to the correct temp. So I'm thinking if I got something like this I could be more sure of my timings and the like.

Where could I get one tone?
I Used one of these to check mine when I thought it wasn't getting hot enough, I baked a half house brick (or was it a cake... tricky to tell the difference!) for 30 min (on gas mark4) and then measured the temperature of the brick.

On the strength of the reading I got from it I got my letting agents to send somebody in to replace the thermocouple on the oven, their equipment for measuring oven temperatures agreed to within 2degrees with the reading I got.

That's a bit on the steep side chuck. I could buy a new oven as quick I'd say.
Why not buy a new cooker..

It would be more hassle than the little sort of dinky I was looking for. I thought there may be a thermometer that could be stuck onto the door with a wire or something going into the oven.
I'll admit I used the infrared thermometer because I happened to have one kicking around (It was more trouble finding the ½ brick)
