Loads of junk email?

I've had a Hotmail account for literally years and have never had much trouble with junk.In the last 2 days I've had over 60 mostly American junk emails calling me Diana which is not my name.Why would this suddenly happen? I've blocked them all but just wondered how all these companies have suddenly found my address?

Hi Diana :)

You probably signed up for a website or similar recently that has sold your email address on. Either that or you posted the address on a public site and it's been harvested.

Have a spare one for form filling etc.

I get quite a few emails from people thinking they are sending them to someone with the same name as me. Got chatting to a family after I returned their request for a recipe and I sent them a step by step guide on how to make beans on toast.
