if you have a DVD recorder (as in one that sits under your TV, not one in your computer) then yes you can.
Not that easy .. You need something like a Humax PVR and only then you can copy Freesat/Freeview channels easily.

>Not that easy

I assume your comment "Not that easy" relates to copying it to a disk in a PC.

But poster does not mention a PC so I assume they mean DVD disk in a normal domestic DVD recorder (like ChuckFickens says)
The ruddy recordings are encrypted!
And you need a huge space to capture to .. like a 1Tb.
Some .. in fact many have 'Copyguard' applied .. so you won't copy them.
You could try from AV1 scart output and record the RGB signal to DVD Recorder. Results will be variable due to 1. Encryption .. and 2. Copyguard (different things)
To be fair, it's a bad question.

The OP has not made it clear at all what they actually want to do.
... plus he did not say 'any content' and 'any time'

sorry...
i have sky which i record freeview programes on the hd box, insted of deleting them i thought i could put them onto disc somehow, but not sure of which type of recorder i would need to do this....
many thanks to everyone who has responded so far...:-)
I do not know why you are getting such rubbishy answers. I've been recording Sky+HD progs from the Sky box to dvds for ages. Buy a decent dvd recorder ( mine is a Panasonic) connect it to the Sky box following the instructions that come with the dvd recorder, play a programme on the Sky box, put a dvd disc in recorder & click record.
They are not rubbishy answers .. and the question was vague to say the least.
You had the benefit of reading the other answers before you posted.
Plonker.
It's easy enough if you just get a set-top DVD recorder (with or without a hard disk) BUT there is an absolutely massive problem with Sky boxes and that the scart connectors do not have the pin connected that controls the aspect ratio.

For me this means that copying widescreen footage to DVD results in old fashioned 4:3 square-vision with a widescreen rectangle in the middle.

I tweaked the settings for ages, changing the letterbox modes on the Sky box and my DVD recorder until I did some research and found that, well, Sky have done it like that on purpose basically!
