Colour Catcher Caution
5 Answers
Mrs Hymie regularly uses Colour Catcher sheets/cloths in her wash. Having a machine that can handle 8kg loads, this allows for a mixed wash (within reason).
Recently the machine developed a fault in that it would not drain. This was found to be due to the Colour Catcher sheet/cloth having managed to become blocked in the pipe connecting the wash-drum to the drain pump. By manually draining the machine, tipping it on its side and disconnecting the blocked pipe, I managed to retrieve the offending cloth.
The Colour Catcher sheets/cloths are made from very thin material, allowing them to escape the wash-drum.
I reckon that an engineer would charge over £100 to come out and fix such a fault. Mrs Hymie is now under strict orders to place any Colour Catcher sheets/cloths within a wash tablet bag – so that they cannot get out of the wash-drum and block the machine.
I would recommend this to others using Colour Catcher sheets/cloths – although some machines might be more susceptible to this problem than others, due to their design.
