How do I slow down my cursor / mouse?

This problem most arises when I am doing word processing and want to copy & paste sections of text.  Of course, I click on the start of the text that I wish to high-light and drag down to the end of the text that I wish to high-light.

There is no problem when all of the text is visible on the screen.  But, when some of the text extends beyond the screen, my problem is that the rate at which the high-lighted area scrolls down is too fast to control.  Within a fraction of a second, the whole of the rest of the document is high-lighted to the end.

How do I slow down the rate at which the mouse scrolls down the high-lighted area beyond the bottom of the screen?

i know of o settings and in ur situation have to hve a fast and acurate hand on the mouse think of it as your car clutch ! just dip the mouse below the line and then up again and do a bit of practissing perhaps your word processor has some options but that is all the help i can offer
If you hold shift and keep pressing the down arrow, one line should be selected at a time.  If you want the right hand side of the last line deselected, hold shift and click or drag inside the line with the mouse.
One way round this is to click the mouse as normal at the start point of what you want highlighted and then hold Shift and click at the end point. Everything in between will be highlighted.

Try this, go to start, settings, control panel, mouse. in that window you will see tabs to select from. go to pointer options and try slowing your pointer speed down a touch. If that does not work then try the same thing but instead of selecting pointer options select wheel and make sure one screen at a time is not selected and the number of lines at a time is not too high (mine is set at 3)
