I haven't touched the fixed valves on the radiators and the other valves are all set to Max.. The radiators have been working fine since we moved here 3 years ago. When I bled the radiators they were all fine and only clean water came out. It's the temperature of the pump itself that concerns me. should it be that hot to the touch? Also 3 radiators are also towel rails and are on all the time, you can't set the temperature or turn them off. Would this affect anything?
The pump should be hot, but no higher than the temperature the thermostat is set to on the boiler. See if you can feel it vibrating to make sure it's working. If it's not, a light knock with a hammer can sometimes get it going. Can't think of a reason why the towel rails would affect it.
