I bought an Eee PC (ASUS) netbook 3 weeks ago. I bought it because of its 9.5 hours battery life. I have recharged it (from totally empty) around 15 times. Problem is im only getting around 4 to 4.5 hours on battery alone. Last time i charged it to full i made a point of only typing in a word document (im doing an essay). Yet still i only get 4 hours 45 minutes. Can anyone tell me why it said 9.5 hours battery life on display when i bought it? Can i take it back and complain? thanks for taking time to read this.,

i have the same problem, it said up to 8hrs battery life and i only get 1.5hrs!!! i took it back and they did a test and said that it was charging to 1.5hrs and that's what was expected. they did give me a replacement anyway but this one does the same. i would take it back and complain as it is misleading
Usually with these things there will have been small print on the advertising display saying something along the lines of '9 hours possible with high capacity battery' leading you to assume that it came with the netbook when in fact it's an extra. That being said, have you turned WiFi and Bluetooth off and if it has built in 3G then that definitely has to turned off as that sucks power like nothing else.
One of the reasons I hate laptops.
I'd complain their little a$$es off.
