Why is there ice in the bottom of my fridge?!
8 Answers
I have a hotpoint FFA71 frost free fridge freezer (fridge on the top, freezer on the bottom). I keep finding water under the salad trays, which is now freezing up and ruining all my fruit and veg. The drain is not at base level but one shelf up, and I have checked its definitely not blocked and the water isn't trickling down from there into the bottom. Yet every day there is water under the trays and total it has formed a block of solid ice. Can anyone please advise what is causing this and how I can stop it?
Thank you.

The hole in ours is just under the salad tray on the lefthand side. If we take the plug out the bottom of the fridge gets a lot colder and we get ice in it. But with the plug in it stays at the normal temperature. Could be this that is causing it. Maybe someone else will come up with another idea for you if this is not the case. Good luck with it.
