warm air heating problem!

i have warm air heating system in my house which has to be 20 years old! i have been here for 3 years without a single problem.
Now the water is red hot as normal and the heatin element is powering up fine altho the the blow air is not blowing? i have no idea wat to chack as its clicking on and off its just not blowing!
being christmas and new year i have no hope of getting an engineer x

It seems as if the fan is not working. Do you have access to the fan part of the system?

i dont have any idea where to look! i have the things on the wall which blow out the heat and then i just have the system which has two compartments . one to the right is water and left is heating both lit up and in working order

There should be a fan somewhere in the main cabinet which connects to the warm air ducting. It's quite possible that the carbon brushes in the fan motor have finally worn away, consequently the fan is not working.
You need a good neighbour who's keen on D.I.Y.
The thermostat on the wall is still working though and telling the system that the rooms are cooling down so start working/blowing.
Try turning the thermostat down and this should hold the system in check until you get it fixed.
We used to have warm air C/H nearly 40 years ago.

I had to repair one of these recently Donna. As the others have said, most likely the fan isn't working. The one I looked at turned out to be a loose connection (VERY lucky - easily fixed)
One thing that does happen with these, is that the fan is simply stuck. When you think about it ....... 20 years of dust and grime. All I can suggest is to get inside (turn the power off first) and poke the fan blades with a screwdriver to see if they're free.

Yes .. Fan power .. brushes or sticking/tight bearing. Maybe the crimp connections inside fan cabinet. Open cabinet, turn off and clean out .. check fan turns over easily. Lubricate bearings if tight.
