more retail staff losing out to internet businesses. They'll struggle to find anything else, self service supermarkets don't need anyone on their media department,

unfortunately people are not going to go there just to keep shop staff in a job, people are after cheap prices which internet and larger supermarkets provide.
It's not surprising though - HMVs prices are extortionate. Even their own online stores are far cheaper than their shops.
The increase in VAT isn't going to help either. I get my stuff from play.com as they sell without charging VAT (Jersey based) and provide free delivery.
Waterstones will probably be another one struggling.
I was just thinking about Waterstones although my one seems to be heaving with people a lot of the time. I bought a book there for £20 at christmas that I could have got from Amazon for £14.
But on the other there are many people who don't trust the internet with money transactions so it would be a loss in some respect. I was distraught when Woolies folded :o(

I know things are cheaper online, people relied heaily on getting something cheap last month and then started pounding the pavements 3 days before christmas demanding the same product cos it hadn't arried and moaning that they had paid less online, tough.
Oh, and those that don't use the internet of course.
has nipper being made redundant then?????
it happened to manufacturing, people were quite happy to send manufacturing abroad because it was cheap, no one gave a monkeys when engineers went on the dole, its the way of the world where money is concerned.
