I am transfering to Sky broadband from an unbundled phone line (whatever that means) and require a new phone number. The literature I have recieved does not make it clear if we will be without broadband during the change over period. I expect a break of a few hours but have the feeling that it could be much longer. Does anyone have any experience of this please?

There should be no break at all. Sky should contact your old provider and get the migration code.
Sky don't, I had to do it and it took days.

It doesn't look good as you can't get a migration code from these unbundled lines which is why I had to have a new number.
Thanks to both of you for your response.
The new provider does not get any code from any ISP.
The old provider is supposed to provide it, and then you pass to the new supplier.
Allbags - I like the "should" bit....

AL, MAC codes don't apply for unbundled lines.

Thanks everybody. I had a Sky engineer in today to fix the set and he said that it can take as much as 2 weeks. So much for their advert saying just one click.....
You're not going to like my answer.... when we switched to Sky we were without broadband for about 4 weeks.....
