Hi, I wondered if anyone can tell me how, with my gas usage how with the total usage is broken down to secondary and primary i.e. my total gas usage in kwh is 692, the secondary figure is 465 and the primary figure is 227 = 692 how do they get 227 for example for the primary figure and the other way round.

British Gas charges the first 223 KWh per month (for monthly billed customers) at a higher 'Tier 1' rate. All further consumption is at the lower 'Tier 2' rate.

British Gas charges the first 223 KWh per month (for monthly billed customers) at a higher 'Tier 1' rate. All further consumption is at the lower 'Tier 2' rate.

However, because meter reading dates (whether actual or estimated) can vary by a few days, the figure of 223 units is moved up or down, pro rata. So if the meter reading dates were just over a month apart (probably by a day), the first 227 units would be charged at the higher rate.

Would you prefer it the other way round?
i thought the primary usage is during the day and the secondary usage is during the night (about 12 - 6 i think) when it's cheaper?
Oohlala is right for electricity if the user has economy 7 (or a variant), but I don't think such a scheme exists for gas
lol!! ow i thought we were talking about electricity. I don't have a clue about gas then, sorry
A crafty way of making a standing charge.
