Just before I call out a repair man I though I would just ask the question. I have a 15 year old Whirlpool electric oven Model No. AKG/217WP. It has given fantastic service but now the digital clock doesn't work and the 'auto' timer keeps overriding the manual setting and switching the oven off. Is it possible for me to just disconnect this part and have the oven on manual all the time or will I have to order a new clock/auto/manual part. If its easy just to take the front section off and disconnect a wire, I don't want the repair man to turn up, do this himself and charge me about £75 for the privilege.

Thanks to any Whirlpool engineers out there.

Hi
Anything is possible. It will not be just a couple of wires though.
I'm sure you can bypass the auto timer ok. The connections will need crimping if possible.
Others like me would do it .. or look for a spare part.

Thanks AlBags. On second thoughs I think I will have to give the repair man a ring. I wouldn't like to think I'd left it unsafe in any way, especially as its getting old and a bit temperamental.
Not sure a repair outfit will want to mod it tho ..
Might be better with a local electrical diy expert!

Happy conclusion. Appliance repair man just been. He disconnected the clock/timer and now oven runs on manual op. Only took him 5 mins and charged £10.
