Can anyone offer any assistance please?..
I have been working for the same company for 14 years will no issues whatsoever only to be recently faced with formal disciplinary procedure.
The circumstances are that last week I have been charged with threatening behaviour and am due to be attending court next week.
The allegations took place outside working hours and is not work related.
As part of the employee manual the employee has an obligation to let the employer know. Having done this I am now facing the sack/dismissal, I've contacted the unions for support but they are not interested.
I'm led to believe that if the company/ employer is mentioned in any form it will constitute bringing the company in disrepute.
Can anyone offercany help? ,can the company do this?..Any additional help would be appreciated.
Thanks

it's odd that the union wont help (if you belong to one that is - if you've simply phoned them on spec i'm not surprised)
It seems also odd that your work are disciplining you when you haven't been found guilty! (although i did see something in the paper about someone in the same position (been sacked even though it hadn't been to court yet) the other day

Well make sure you do not mention your employer's name or company name in court! If you are asked if you are in employment just say eg" I work in a freight company" .Put your request to be accompanied to the disciplinary in writing to the union rep or email. If you get no reply, go on the internet and find out who the regional officer is. Have your membership no' if possible.
Personally I would have only told the employer after the case had gone to court and then only if I was found guilty.
