JSA entitlement & Local Elections

Situation:

A person claiming income based JSA entitlement, wants to stand as a candidate for the Local Borough elections at the same time.

What are the implications for the income based JSA?

Payment of JSA used to be based on the fact that the recipient was 'actively seeking employment'.........if they have 'activities' which would cut down on their availability to hold down a full time job, JSA (or whatever name it has next week) may be withdrawn.
They may have to satisfy the DWP that any obligations which they take on by being elected will NOT compromise their ability to work.

I appreciate the time taken to reply. I should have made it clear in my question that I meant the campaigning part of the election process only. If successfully elected, the person would be entitled to a councillors allowance which would exclude them from continuing their claim for income based JSA entitlement.

I think that they would be advised to tot up how many hours the campaigning will take up (realistically) and then make a decision.
I would suggest that they call the DWP helpline for clarification. Often they have obscure rules and regulations which may cover such circumstances.
