I curently have a claim with sainsburys house insurance

The claim is nearly settled and they told me they were going to put £350 into my bank account. The money never went in so i called them and they told me they had put this money into a different bank account. I bank with alliance and leicester and this is were my direct debit comes out of to pay for my house insurance. They told me they have put it into a lloyds tsb account. I did used to have an account with lloyds tsb but i have never gave sainsburys house insurance theses details so when i asked were they had got theses details from the lady was nt sure. The advisor did say there was a note on the system saying for them to say sorry to me because they had put the money in the wrong account. My lloyds tsb account is still open cause i owe them money and i am currently paying them back monthly so if they have put the money in that account then it will have been swallowed up. I have called them back and the advisor said she was still waiting for a response from the dept that puts the money into the bank. Am i correct in saying that they should now issue me with the money again as it was their mistake that they put it in the wrong account. Any advice anyone please xx

No expert, just looking at things logically, and technically, they have paid you so I wouldn't hold out much hope. Had it been paid into someone else's account, then yeah, fair enough, you could justifiably moan.

From what I can see the problem now of paying into the wrong account is a separate issue to take up with them but they have paid you.
1. You must have given them the Lloyds details at some point, they cant just find them

2. I would maybe have a bit of a grumble, if theyve paid into another account, but look at this way...your debt to Lloyds has been reduced.
having a debt reduced isn't all that helpful when you have to replace/repair the thing you claimed on the insurance for though!
If too much time hasn't elapsed, ask Sainsbury's to recall the payment from Lloyds TSB and pay to your required account, or request a cheque.
No they do not have to give you the money again. They acted on information that you, at some time, provided. Your private arrangements with Lloyds have no bearing in this.
