What are the chances of my slip and trip claim being successful?
2 Answers
And what are the potential hidden costs? I am just very sceptical about not having to pay a penny regardless of the outcome, too good to be true. Will I have to fork out on a solicitor then?
Basically, I was walking home from work when i slipped and fell on an extremely icy pavement which was also badly crooked. The ice was untreated and I blame my local council for that and for not fixing the pavement. I shattered bones in one wrist from the fall and had to undergo 2 operations, with metal inserted to repair the damage. It caused me to miss 2 months off work and severe pain, and now 2 years on the wrist still is not back to its full capacity. Doctors have told me the injury was so severe the wrist movement range is unlikely to ever get back to 100%. I know I'm still within the 3 year period to claim, and would like to find out about the solicitor costs involved and the likelihood of success. Anything I could say to make my claim even stronger?
Thank you in advance for your help!

The council can't grit everywhere, the public has a duty of care to be careful as individuals. The badly crooked bit might help (although I'm not sure what you mean) - a slab raised by one inch is usually an indicator that repairs were needed. Have they been fixed since your accident? Howver - you are in the 3-year period but it would have been in your own interests to report it immediately, take photos etc - it will be difficult to prove now where the accident happened.
