My wife lost a ring about six years ago, initially thinking it would be found around the house somewhere but nonetheless went to the police in case someone found it and has a reference from them (though not dated). It was never found and no claim was made as we couldn't find the receipt - until now! Would it be worth trying to claim on the house insurance now?
rob55...etc. The ring was bought for £600.
factor30 - it could only have been lost between ground floor kitchen and car so thank you, it would be worth bearing that in mind to be more explicit, should we claim.
bedknobs - we have been with the same company for donkeys years without claiming for anything until earlier this year when we had storm damage and (begrudgingly?) received £1400 towards repairs after damage assessment.
If you admit that it was lost 6 years ago you have no chance , way way outside the time limit to claim.
(Of course you could just say you have just lost it and make a claim , don't mention the police reference it will be off the record now)
How long ago did you buy it ? Remember the ring will be worth a lot more now than you paid for it , the price of Gold is at an all time high.
