hi, my husband is self employed carpenter and was wondering about insuring his tools the main concern is for theft from his van. can he buy this type of insurance, would it be an extra on his public liability or van insurance?

Tools and equipment insurance is often included in van insurance policies.
You have to check if yours is one iof them, obviously it costs more so if you get the cheapest possible policy it will not be included.
If you google "tools in van insurance" you'll see plenty of options. It will be part of his van insurance for which he should shop around. Be careful to get the right cover with no limits and cover for hire tools.

Van insurance may only cover upto £200 on a private motor insurance policy. You can get higher cover as part of tradesmen insurance. Try these guys
