Anybody out there know the best way to gain compensation for a delayed flight and what amount is due ?
My holiday flight to Italy was delayed 2.75 hours on the way out and 13.50 hours on its return. I have travel insurance and it was page holiday.
Does the responsibility for payment lie with the travel insurance, the holiday company or charter flight company ? We were put in a hotel overnight by the travel company.
I would welcome advice from someone who knows what my best course of action is
nothing on the way out, we got a voucher for a sandwich and drink for a 4 hour delay Manchester to Cuba . You were looked after for the longer delay with a hotel room. What was the reason for the long return delay? If it was a safety issue you can't blame anyone,
Interesting question. There was a court case recently whereby Ryanair had to compensate a passenger for a delay. That seemed to set a precedent for other passengers to claim according to circumstances. If a delay is due to the airline ( a technical problem for example) then there is a case for compensation. If the delay is due to something outside the airline`s control such as ATC delays or weather then there is no case to argue. In the light of the Ryanair case, my sister put in a claim to a UK airline that delayed her flight by 3 hours because it "went tech". She received 600 Euros.
