Woman Sleep Walks And Falls 5 Floors........

Saw this on the news today. Why oh why do people go abroad without travel insurance. Before Mic became ill we had an annual policy that cost about £70. We never needed it thankfully but who can tell what is round the corner. This girls medical bills will run into thousands. Her family have launched an appeal to help pay her bills. Would you donate?

NO, I wouldn't, Insurance is not expensive, weighed up against the alternative.

The easiest way to type a € symbol is simply to press 4 and Alt Gr together.
Most people travelling within the EU probably DON'T need medical insurance because their EHIC (which they most definitely DO need) provides them with the same level of medical cover as is afforded to residents of the country which they're visiting. However the EHIC doesn't cover repatriation costs, which is why travel insurance can help the really small minority of travellers who might need it. (It's also what the sleep-walking woman's family seem to be trying to raise funds for, rather than for her immediate medical care).
I sometimes bother with insurance when travelling abroad but I'm usually prepared to take the (very small) risk that I'd require medical repatriation and simply rely upon my EHIC for medical treatment.
