how long do previous claims stay on your insurance history i made a claim for a damaged door 4 years ago,and if your selling your house do solicitors have access to your previous insurance claims

When you sell, the form you will fill in asks about claims on your buildings insurance, not contents. If you wanted to put in that you'd claimed for a damaged door four years ago, I don't think it would put any potential buyer off....

You can certainly come up with them Peter :- .
If you have Accidental Damage to the building cover then I would contact my Insurer and let them fight it out with the police. I don't know what their legal liability is regarding damaging Third Party property in the course of carrying out their duties whilst trying to apprehend someone. Perhaps you do.
Hopefully,if the Insurer indemnifies you for the damage to the property, then they will have subrogation rights against the police to reclaim
any amount that they have paid.
