Water Damage Liability

My ceiling was damaged by water leaking from the flat above. Who is responsible for the cost of repairs?

I cannot think of any circumstances where you would bear any responsibility or cost.

Do you have buildings insurance? If you claim from them they will try to claim from the person above/their insurer

I was assuming it was your flat but maybe you are a tenant?
