As some of you may know I had an accident in April in that I tipped a guy's bumper in front of me and naturally is going to blow up into a "compensation" claim for him.

Regrettably my insurance is up tomorrow and I called into brokers who gave me a price and told me premium was so and so

I have been with this broker some years and very happy with them but somehow tonight am thinking the assistant was too flippant with the premium which I thought was excessive - saying "oh it has gone up cos no-one will touch you because of the accident in April".

Shall I take her word for it because of the accident business and pay up or query it again. Again I pay for fully comp and so to lower my premium if it saves me money I may go "Third party etc".

Any opinions please and thank you.

I came away happy enough but have now thought it over and am thinking it is way too much an

Tell us how much it's gone up by.
"oh it has gone up cos no-one will touch you because of the accident in April".

Thats a load of carp, jj. Try the comparison sites for some quotes.

^^^^ I came away happy enough - last sentence should be omitted - will get back to you re premium - soon.
NEVER accept the first renewal quote. Get another quote from a different broker.
Why not try go compare or another car insurance comparison site and see what they come up with. I did that recently when my previous insurers annoyed me. Esure was a lot lower so I changed to them.

Try all four of the price comparison websites and see if any of the other suggestions can help you.

Right - almost double a month
Question Author
without going into your links - would this be online business of which I would be unsure or phone calls which I can't hear etc
I would just add that 'Esure' have had a LOT of bad publicity, I would not touch them with a barge pole.
'Esure' Trustpilot reviews scored them just 1.5 out of 10!

Jenny, if you use the comparison sites Buenchico has linked to you will see what other insurance companies would charge you. It does not commit you to purchasing any insurance but you would know if your broker is ripping you off.

Try at least one.
JJ if you are not happy using web sites just go to another broker and get a quote, do not tell them what your normal broker offered just go and tell them your details and ask for a quote.
Question Author
I started on one of the links and got half way through and of course it came up had I had an accident and of course I need to be honest but I didn't complete the form.

So what happens if I go to another broker say tomorrow - surely - it would be correct to say in that no other insurance company will touch me re that last stupid accident.
it would be correct to say in that no other insurance company will touch me re that last stupid accident.

No jj that's incorrect. Lots of people have accidents but still manage to insure their cars.
Question Author
Can I ask here - if I were to get a better quote from another broker say tomorrow and of course tell them I had an accident etc -

who will be responsible for the "accident" my present broker or the "new" one if claim persists.

think I know the answer but need to be reassured
I don't read reviews Eddie. I have had car insurance for 48 years. Never had to make a claim. (so far!)
