Can anyone help please, who were the underwriters (insurers) for HFS loans, ( Now Capital one) back in 1996.

My understanding is that HFS may have acted as brokers who sourced loans and arranged these through a network of providers of funds. This appears to have been confirmed in 2004 When GE Capital made a bid for the business:-

If that is so, it is possible that the actual lender of the money in each case would have underwritten it rather than HSF per se. Hope this is helpful,
