Car Towing Caravan - Question

We are in the process of getting a new car but unclear on if it will tow the caravan

If anyone could help that would be great. It seems a little confusing as the weights are described differently on car and caravan.

The car is a Peugeot 307 1.6 HDi
Suspect says that the unbraked towing weight is 745 kg and the braked towing weight is 1300 kg

The caravan is a sterling Europa 525 2006 4 berth

If anyone knows the answer or where I can find out that would be great

I have tried Googling it but I keep getting lots of different measurements and not sure which ones I should be looking at

The website below states that a Peugeot 1.6Hdi engine will pull 1500kg. Albeit the 2008 model.

Caravans have brakes, so it's the braked towing weight that you are interested in i, 1300Kg.
That, however, is what the car manufacturer says the car will pull away from rest up a 1 in 8 (12 1/2%) hill. The Caravan Club (and most other experts) say that you shouldn't tow more that 85% of your car's weight; you'll need the kerbweight of your car and the LOADED wieght of the caravan to work that out.
If you look on the Caravan Club website I think there is a list of car/caravan combinations.

I would say you need a car with at least a 2000kg towing weight.Trying to stop in an emergency will be a problem with anything less.

Don't tow a caravan with a car. Towing caravans are the work of the devil.

Just remember your on board weight can effect the braking, that also depends on your right foot!!

It's not so much the straight-line braking that's the problem, but the "tail wagging the dog" if the caravan is too heavy for the car. The caravan will look after itself in a straight line but, if you are ob a bend or a poor road, the caravan can push the car off line and, if you are unlucky/inexperienced, roll over. You need to make sure the caravan is within the 85% limit and loaded properly.

I dont think its a good match at all

If you look at this site and put your car and caravan details in

It shows that the caravan is too heavy for your cars towing limit if you put more than 150kg of 'stuff' in it.
Also, the caravan noseweight is too heavy for your car's towball limit.
