As It's So Quiet On Here This Morning- Car Insurance
12 Answers
I have a distant relative who forgot to renew car insurance ....errr ok .
So it has lapsed by 4 weeks.
The police stopped them when their automatic number plate reader didn't match car as being insured. The car was towed away and the relative insured car and collected car after paying fees for tow and storage.
They will now expect 6 points on license and fine.
But when they insured car they told insurance they have no points on license , that is correct at time of insuring car.
When they get 6 points do they have to inform insurance company ?
Or wait until they insure next year ?
Just curious .

In the event of a claim they will use anything they can against you to avoid a payout.
I can't remember the questions when I last insured car aka 2 months ago lol
Oh well it's up to them.
They are stupid enough to miss all those renewal emails and not know when it expired , so they would stupid enough to invalidate insurance by not being honest.

Its very very easy to forget to renew these days since the reminder is likley to be an email, which in many cases is one of many others buried in a sea of information overload. Some emails dont register as important when they are and I have to be really careful myself, not to ignore things and pass them over as spam.
