Outside The School Gates At Pick Up Time Yesterday. (Rant)

My son had just picked up my grandson, and was walking him up the road to the car.
In front of him a woman in a burkha got into a 4x4, shut the door and he saw the reverse lights come on. She was parked on a single yellow line, halfway on the pavement.
He had a gut feeling something was going to go wrong.
His feeling was correct.
She went right into him hitting him in the tummy and going over his feet, thankfully he had pushed my grandson toward the wall by this time.
He gathered his wits as she shrugged at him and drove off.
He noted her wing mirrors were damaged (from a previous encounter with something) and there was no way she could use them.
Tonight he waited for her to appear, and she was between 2 other cars held up when he spotted her. He told her she had run into him and advised her to get her mirrors fixed.
She refused point blank to speak to him, and wound up her window and looked straight ahead.
He said to her that if she wouldn't speak to him, she had better be prepared to speak to the police. (He wasn't really going to report it).
Headmaster and one of the teachers and a couple of parents have advised him to carry through in order to make her (and the others that were illegally parked there) consider the safety of their actions.
It led me to think, surely wearing this garment, and with smashed mirrors, her peripheral views must have been greatly reduced?

Do you know absolutely irrelevant of what she was wearing or what she couldn't see you should definitely report anyone who hits you with a car and doesn't acknowledge it.

No, I didn't know that, and I don't think my lad does. He doesn't want to cause any trouble, but I asked him how he would feel if he didn't act, and next week a child got hurt.
IMHO I feel he should report it, if only for her to be advised of her actions.

To answer a couple of the questions,Togo - he knew it was a woman because his daughter used to play with her daughter, and they have interacted in the past. Also he knew the car reg.
Tilly, he wears safety boots - thank goodness, but the tyre marks are on both boot toe tops.
Is the damaged wing mirror/s not pertinent then?
I take the point re the dress code, not seen it discussed on here before though, hence my query. Mind you I don't check in on a daily basis.

I think he should report it, she is a danger to others. One day she could do the same, and possibly kill somebody.

I believe a working driver's side mirror is manadatory and a damaged one would fail an MOT. Could he tell bth mirrors were damaged. If he hadn't been wearing safety boots he'd most likely have a broken foot. Had the police seen it happen they would have spoken to her, breathalysed her too.

If she pilots her vehicle anything like the private hire drivers who have all appeared from nowhere around here as if deposited en masse from the air, she relies on a supreme being to keep her safe from harm and has no regard for anyone else on the road.

Yes, I will pass on comments in the morning, he does ring me every morning to see if I am ok. I feel she should be spoken to if nothing else, or maybe spare a PCSO for half an hour at school times to make them all think on a bit.

He must report it. Irrespective of what she was wearing, or her nationality she is a dreadful driver and who knows whether she has ever passed a test if she goes around doing things like like.

I agree he must report it. No question. For one thing it is illegal to park on the pavement and, for another, next time it could be a child.

Didn't realize that, ladybirder. Still as the article says you have to drive on the pavement to get there!
My road has a lot of trouble with people from the school parking. One lady I know had someone parked in her driveway. Not just across it but in it and she got abuse when she asked them to leave.
Most people I expect are fairly considerate picking up their children but a few make it bad for many.
I still think he should report her. She ran into him - whether on the road or pavement she was at fault.

Why on Earth would you do that, they are almost certainly contributing factors?
