Just had mine through. Despite being a fairly loyal customer, it's gone up by nearly £2.00. Must be a mistake (or they've realised they've been overcharging me these last couple of years.)

Sorry, but I think I'm m missing something here??
I've had renewals come through and sometimes they've been more than the previous year; sometimes they've been less. I think my last one was about £30 less than the previous year :)
I think Arrods is just being sarcastic/ironic/satirical- not sure which
They don't reward loyal customers.

Always ring, and the price will magically drop.
NEVER accept a renewal price. You will ALWAYS get it cheaper if you search for another insurer.Your mistake was staying with the same insurer for a 'couple of years'.They rely on inertia ,many customers just accept the renewal price because they can't be bothered to look around. In 41 years of driving I have NEVER taken the renewal quote, always got it cheaper shopping around. Sometimes over £100 cheaper.
Last year my insurance company wanted to put up my premium by about £100 compared to the previous year. When I called them to try to get a better deal they said unless any details about my car or my circumstances had changed, there was nothing they could do. Needless to say, I didn't stay with them.

Comparatively, the insurer I moved to sent me my renewal quote a couple of weeks ago and it was £2 less than the previous year.

Don't worry all - I didn't say I'd accepted the renewal!

Got a £100 reduction in my last home insurance renewal when I explained I could get it cheaper. And two months in, I'm about to put in a circa 5k claim.

(NB I worked in motor insurance for 40+ years and know that the cheapest is only the best if you don't have to claim.)
Perhaps I misunderstood because you meant type £200 not £2?
