Cancellation Charge

Recently we posted a job with rated tradepeople, we had 2 replies from plumbers,they were asked to phone next day to arrange a time to view the job & quote,as my wife had to go on a course that day,however 1turned up anyways,when my eife asked him to call back later as she was running late he became very rude & aggressive towards her.obviously she would not let him in.now he has emailed us a bill for £40 for a doorstep cancellation.surely this can't be right?

Please can you clarify the "however 1turned up anyways". Do you mean he turned up and your wife sent him away because he hadn't phoned to arrange a time and she wasn't ready. I don't think he'll pursue it. Just point out that he didn't arrange a time as requested
