I have continued to pay for my denplan during the pandemic. However, I have not been able to see my dentist. I had my annual checkup up for August 2020 but this was cancelled and I was told they would be in touch when they are doing non emergency work. As of yet I have still not heard anything. Are you entitled to claim a refund back on your payments. I have been paying for a service that I have not received.

KARK, from what uncletom has written it is not Denplan denying him his check ups, it's his dentist. They should reimburse him pro rata for the part of his monthly charge that covers routine exams.

My wife and I are both with a different dental insurer. Our dentist does check-ups, scale and polish only and no restorative work at all. This means that even when she sees something needing attention she can only tell you and from there on the teeth are left to rot. Once they get beyond saving she will do the extraction. Meanwhile we pay full whack.
The dentist did ask whether we could access dental care elsewhere, noting what I already knew that the UK is probably the only country worldwide where dental care has all but been closed down. I said yes and went abroad for the work that was necessary - absolutely no problem, an appointment within 24 hours if I wanted it, a choice of any number of dentists.
The information I have is that no Covid infection there has been traced to a dental surgery.
I recently had communication from the insurer to tell me good news: On renewal the premium will be unchanged - I rushed out to clap. They must be making an awful lot of money. If you get any joy on a refund/discount from Denplan then please post it on AB so I can throw the information at my lot.

Mamyalynne, the premium covers everything, not just the simple little bit of a checkup - restoration is the biggie. Fair enough, not even doing a checkup is particularly bad and the suggestion that another dentist working with Denplan should be approached is a valid way out of that. This may require some communication with Denplan to ensure complications are avoided. Nevertheless, if needing restorative work, Ellipsis's teeth, along with those of millions' of others, will continue to rot for months to come.
I haven't needed any work doing in years. One of the benefits of Denplan, or my dentist at least, is that get your teeth round and get you keeping them in good condition yourself, to keep the premiums down. Using a electric toothbrush, good toothpaste, regular use of interdent sticks, etc. I think I'd probably be all right for years if I had to be.
